Why Planning Matters
A kitchen remodel is one of the largest investments you'll make in your home. In Central Kentucky, where we serve homeowners from Nicholasville to Lexington and beyond, we've seen projects succeed or struggle based on the upfront planning.
Step 1: Define Your Plan
Before reaching out to contractors, answer these questions:
- Are you doing a full gut renovation or a refresh?
- Which elements need replacing vs. updating?
- What's your realistic budget range?
- Do you need the kitchen functional during work?
Timeless kitchen design
Quality craftsmanship and attention to detail make the difference in every remodeling project. We bring years of experience to Central Kentucky homes and businesses.
Step 2: Prioritize What Matters
Kentucky families often prioritize:
- Storage - Especially in older Nicholasville homes with limited cabinet space
- Counter space - For meal prep and family gatherings
- Lighting - Many Central Kentucky homes have insufficient kitchen lighting
- Durability - Materials that hold up to daily use
Step 3: Set Your Budget
A typical kitchen remodel in the Lexington area ranges from $15,000 for a refresh to $50,000+ for a full renovation. Include a 10-15% contingency for surprises.
Step 4: Timeline Expectations
Most kitchen remodels in our area take 3-6 weeks depending on details. Factors that affect timeline:
- Cabinet lead times (custom vs. stock)
- Permit requirements
- Electrical or plumbing changes
- Countertop fabrication
Step 5: Gather Documentation
When you contact a contractor, have ready:
- Room measurements or photos
- Pinterest boards or inspiration images
- Your prioritized list of must-haves vs. nice-to-haves
- Any existing issues (leaks, electrical concerns)
