  • Accessibility and aging-in-place needs

  • Master bathroom modernization

  • Small bathroom space optimization

  • Rental property updates

Complete Conversion Process

Converting a tub to a shower involves more than removing the tub. Proper plumbing, waterproofing, and finishing create a shower that looks intentional and lasts.

Tub Removal

We carefully remove the existing tub and any damaged or outdated materials, protecting surrounding surfaces and plumbing.

Plumbing Reconfiguration

Shower drains and valves are in different positions than tub fixtures. We relocate plumbing for optimal shower function.

Waterproofing

The expanded wet area requires comprehensive waterproofing. We install membranes on walls and floors to prevent moisture damage.

Shower Construction

Shower pan, curb (or curbless design), wall tile, floor tile, and fixtures. We build complete showers, not just tub replacements.

Accessibility Options

Grab bars, fold-down benches, handheld showerheads, and curbless entries for aging-in-place or accessibility needs.

Tub to Shower Conversion FAQs

Quick answers before you request a quote.

Will I lose home value by removing the tub?

Context matters. If the home has at least one tub elsewhere, removing a second tub for a walk-in shower often adds value. Don't eliminate your only tub if families are your target buyers.

Can I have a curbless shower?

Often yes. Curbless showers require proper floor slope and drain design. We assess your bathroom's potential during planning.

How much larger will the shower be?

A standard tub is 30"x60". The converted shower uses this full footprint, creating a generous walk-in shower where most standard showers are only 32-36" deep.

What about the window over my tub?

Windows in showers require waterproof treatment. We can tile around the window with proper moisture protection or discuss other options.

Can I add accessibility features later?

Grab bars and handheld showerheads can be added anytime if backing was installed. Benches and curbless designs are best planned during the initial conversion.
